journal end cap question.

Hi .

I do not know much about the fe blocks.

I recently purchased a low mileage rebuilt 390.
I put on an eidelbrock intake and when I started it it I had two wires crossed.

It fired up right away but it also had on miss fire about every 2 to 3 cyles. I shut it off. found the problem and it fired up again, and the the thermastat housing started leaking water.

end result I removed the intake and found the end oil plug had popped up from the back of the oil journal.

Question is....

How do I reset the plug? i have placed it in the opening but how much pressure do I use to seat it?

Would the missfire have popped it on to the windage tray?

picture as where i found the plug.

Thanks for all and any help.

Oh yea. The 390 is in a work in progress 54 f100.

Does this oil plug (if I have named it right), does it keep the oil pressure to direct the oil to the cam bearing?

Thanks

Whatever you do, get a new plug - it should come in a "expansion plug" kit - I think this has it in it:
Amazon Amazon

Using a small socket, or something similar that just barely fits inside the hole in the block, hammer it home.

Some people might suggest using a sealer on it - wait for more answers.

The misfire wouldn't have done this - it was loose to begin with and oil pressure pushed it out.
