I was just wondering if anyone has used a pedalmax device to get rid of the acceleration lag caused by the drive by wire system in the Superduty. I have been considering this route instead of a tuner to make my 6.2 a little more fun to drive. I am sure there are other brands out there to consider, just looking for a little bit of advice. The pedalmax is only slightly less expensive than a tuner, not sure which is better.
at 300$ I would just spend the extra 100 and buy a tuner from 5star and get rid of the throttle lag and get a bit of performance. Doesnt look like its worth it to me.
If you look around on here, there is a reason 5star has such a good reputation and is the common choice. I've made 1 phone call to them, and their customer service was top notch. The few issues I've seen with their tuners, they didn't run from the problem and fixed it. Are you going to get that with pedalmax? I'm not dishing their product because I've never used it, but it just seems silly to pay that, when you could get a SCT tuner with custom tunes from 5 star that does A LOT more for little money.
I understand that, and that's exactly why I don't have a tuner on my truck, YET. I'm guessing if you call 5 star, they can give you a custom tune that doesn't touch shift strategies or engine timing, only throttle response.
with the ability to return to stock at any time, I am not sure how much voiding of the warranty it does, I always return my truck to stock before taking it in to the dealer. For me i love the shift patterns in their performance tune, now my pickup stays in 4th gear till 45 and then 5th until 55 and then it drops into 6th gear, compared to my stock tune where it will shift into 6th gear at 40mph.. and just lug the pickup like crazy.
The tune leaves a footprint that is recorded in the computer. I've read that you can return it to stock and drive it for a while, and the recording is only looped so long. I honestly don't know about that part. But if you drop a valve or burn up a transmission, your not going to get the chance to load the stock tune and drive it around.
