Hello all...haven't been here in awhile...have a question for everyone ad I know I M probably going to get many answers. What fuel additive do you use for your 7.3? I have a 2001 f350 with the 7.3. Also, going to do some serious upgrades to the old girl...adding Deaver springs to smooth the ride and installing banks power elbow and down pipe. Need to upgrade the turbo and I am looking at the BD Thruster 2 Ca edition (since I look in Ca) but if there are people out there that are in Cali and running the thruster 2 let me know..also doing stage 1 injectors inline water separator and engine brake. Increasing the torque converter and tranny...yes spending some $$$$$.
The best thing you could usually use in the summer would be a cetane booster but isnt diesel in California like 50 cetane already which in that case there's no need for it.
I use Power Service Diesel Kleen (gray bottle). There is probably some stuff out there that's better but this stuff is still good and I can pick it up at Wal-Mart.
SuperTech TC-WB outboard 2 cycle oil. 3-8 ounces per 30 gallons, depending on how hard you will be running. I had 250k on factory injectors when I let my 7.3 go, and she ran pretty darn good.
I've used the Diesel Kleen in the winter (white bottle) when the temps would get down to the single digits. It is good stuff too. But the 2 stroke oil is primarily what I used.
One bottle lasts quite a while. I like I am not sure it isn't my imagination but my truck is way quieter. I have friends with 7.3's and my truck is quite a bit quieter than theirs.
