Clicking
I jacked up the truck grabbed top of the tire and there was play replaced both side front wheel bearing.
Stated to back the truck out of the garage the clicking was still there.
The truck has 140K so I figured it probably a U joint.
I replaced all 3 U joints and center support bearing.
Backed the truck out of the garage and the clicking sound still there.
I tried to remove the hub caps did not work.
Any one has any idea what to look at next.
It sounds like a bad SpeedO cable only clicks when the tuck moving Forward or in Reverse faster truck moves faster the clicks Slower the truck move slower the clicks.
The only thing I can think of the transmission E4DO.
It wasn't until I had someone drive it by me that I was able to pinpoint the noise to left rear tire where a decent rock had wedged itself so tightly into the treads that even high speed driving wouldn't cause it to fling out.
Your truck being a '97 also won't (or at least shouldn't) have a mechanical drive speedo cable.
Have someone else drive the truck by you and see if you can hear it better from an outside perspective as listening from inside the truck with the window down really won't do much for you.
And I know there's no speed O cable but that what sounds like.
[Q toUOTE=Azryael;17331886]This happened to me on my Wrangler once! I looked at everything.
