Step bumper decision factors

2003 club wagon conversion to van camper. I have a step bumper and am trying to decide if I want to rattle can paint it and mount it. with the step bumper I thought I might use the back doors for entry more (good idea?) the van has a slider. any other considerations about step bumper? I will have a receiver hitch underneath and an extension with a 2-bike rack mounted most of the time. I thought about putting another step off the side of the receiver hitch extension to sort of... anyone?

I have that set up minus the bikes and I like it.
I've been looking for a step but may just end up welding one up

Here is a thought. One could fabricate something similar that would fold up out of the way

thanks ppl, the bike rack is mounted in the 2" receiver hitch extension on nearly every trip. that fold up step is cool, I think it serves the purpose of the step bumper though (around the same height?) I drew the picture to show a general approach I am thinking of the red traingle is the additional step (hoping it can be a bit lower)... that is if using the rear doors is convenient for me, still haven't figured that out, need to do some trips! hehe
