My family always called them West Coast mirrors. Every truck my father owned, he went to Grand Auto and purchased a set of chrome ones. The screws would rust so he would dip the screw head in One-Shot striping paint.
What is the real name of the high mount mirrors? high mount, tow or west cost? The one that mounts to the top and mid of the door. Thanks for the help
Genuine Ford: The correct name is WesternMirrors and there were two different types used on the trucks.
Western Mirrors have a 3rd steadyrest arm, which bolts to the door then to the bracket behind the mirror head. These came as part of the Camper Special package, were optional on other models.
Western Junior mirrors are "Swing-Loks" have two goosenecked arms with the mirror in between. This mirror was optional on all models except Camper Special's.
Both these mirrors use the same mirror head (C7TZS17723A) which has three embossed lines on its flat back. The center line is longer than the other two.
Both painted and stainless steel versions of the two types of Western Mirrors were available.
