Hey guys, i blew a power steering cooler line yesterday and lost a bit of fluid. Removed and replaced the line, consequently losing most of the fluid in the system (during line replacement). Re-filled the system and now i have great power steering when driving but none at idle. If i bring my RPMs up about 150-200 i get it back in full force.
Could my PS pump be on the way out or might this just be air in the system? Thanks.
Thanks! My best guess is air considering the power steering works so well once you gain just a few rpm. I saw on another forum that if I jack up the truck and turn lock to lock with the engine off that can bleed the system.
Is there a better way to bleed super duty power steering or will it work its way out of the resivoir? Thanks.
that is how you change the power steering fluid.. every 100,000 miles..
drain system.. fill... jack up front.. start engine... move steering wheel from one lock to other lock (slowly).. 3 to 4 times..
lower truck.. done.
air compresses.. fluid does not.. with air in oil.. it compresses... now you will have to wait overnight.. do it COLD.. as if you start the engine.. you remix air and fluid.
