Retrax Drain Hoses

Installed my Retrax Pro MX shortly after I got my truck. Didn't install the drain hoses as I am trying to figure out how to route them.

What is everyone else doing? I went with the Retrax because even though it had a canister, it was high enough in the bed to have full bed access under it.

I saw somewhere that people are drilling holes in the rubber/plastic plugs in the front of the bed, but I wasn't sure if that was the best route as:

1. Those plugs are rather low so you would be loosing more bed space.

2. I am pretty sure that my factory spray in bedliner was applied over top of these plugs.

Just wanted to see what everyone else is doing before I installed them. At this point, I have nothing in the bed, so a little water until I figure it out is no big deal.

When I installed on my current truck I just drilled through rubber covers, never had an issue.

I ordered another retrax for my truck in order, I plan on doing the same thing

Not a Retrax but I had this Roll-n-Lock installed today. They routed the hoses through the plugs in front of the bed.

Bowtie, do you have the center high mount camera and if so does the canister interfere with the view of the ball?

I do and actually I can see the safety chain hooks that are positioned slightly in front of the ball. There is no interference at all. The biggest problem I have is the trailer is black, the bed is black, and the back-up guide blocks the view of the ball so I can line up on the hitch but I find myself getting out of the truck a couple of times to make sure I am not going to hit my tail gate on the trailer.

What about a nail polish mark where you can see it for reference?

I put some reflective tape on the base of the coupler on the PJ trailer and painted the bottom of the ball fluorescent orange. That made a lot of difference. My ghetto trailer doesn't have electric jacks so we lift it up with the forklift to hook it up so someone is spotting me there.

Mine is routed the same as the photograph. Drilling through the bedliner and rubber is no problem. If you're really worried about the hoses restricting what you push up against the front of the bed you can always drill a hole up higher in the aluminum. I know people hate drilling holes in their trucks but sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

I did mine the same way on my MX4 as Hackenbush did on his. I imagine it would work with your Retrax as well.
