I have a 1984 f150 with a 300 6. When i first got the truck the ignition switch worked fine. Here a while back something under the dash spit sparks and that was it. After replacing the switch and the solenoid you can turn the key and everything comes on but I get no power to the coil and the motor won't spin over. Right now I got a switch board under the hood that starts it but getting ready to sell it and nobody wants a truck that you can't start like your suppose to.please help.
What tests have you performed? At least see if you have power to the solenoid when you attempt to start at the small wire. This where the ignition tells the solenoid to allow to crank. No power to coil with key on? Check for grounds. Check all connectors are clean and have electric grease in there. Might be just dirty. I assume you checked the fuses.
Try this; Take the short column cover off around the column that is near the cluster. Turn the key switch back and forth, you should see a small rod moving up and down on top of the column where you took the cover off.
Get some small pliers, turn the keyswitch to start and hold it, and then take the pliers and pinch the rod and help it by pushing it further down toward the cluster. If it cranks over, your pot metal piece is broke inside the column.

If i recall correctly the ignition switch actual (not the key but the bit on the column under the dash) is adjustable you may just need to move it further up the column towards the steering wheel so it is getting the full travel of the actuating rod.. I assume that is the switch you replaced.
I've tryed adjusting the switch on top of the calum. And if I run a wire from the battery to the power side of the coil it fires. Also no matter what I try I can't get it to spin over unless I jump it from the solenoid. Also I forgot to mention this. The neutral safety switch for the auto trans was toast so I just bypassed it to keep the truck running. Every time use put it in gear it died. It's also shut off one time by turning on the wipers
