I have a 1979 f150 ranger lariat 4x4. Can someone tell me what the jack handle looks like? I thought it folded up, but the man at the junkyard tried to sell me one today that was about 4 1/2 feet long. He said my model truck it hooked between the grill and radiator.

There are two different jack crank handles.
The standard equipment approx. 4 1/2' long type (C7TZ-17081-A = 1967/79 F100/350) and the optional folding type for F100/350's.
The folding type (82Y-17081-B) is available from Ford and will be found in ALL 1975/96 Econolines, as it was standard equipment.
Open the right rear door of these Econolines and look inside. The spare tire, jack, jack crank handle and lug wrench are located at the rear of the body panel.

Okay, thanks. Lol, I never thought about a lug wrench. I have my jack but neither of the other.
The folding one has a tube that slides and locks it when it is folded open. And has the bend on the end to go in the jack.
And yes the long none hinged version one, clips to the core support. Front or back? I have seen the long one clipped to the floor (shelf like back part of the cab) behind the seat.
And the best place to keep the old style lug wrench is under the bracket with the crank style bottle jack.
