Demco makes a lifting tool and if you want to put an electric winch or chain fall in your garage, you can lift it out, drive out from under, and lower it on a rolling cart for storage.
I run the demco 21k autoslide in my 2016. Fits in the factory pucks, no adapter. Been running it for a full year now, and I like it. The only issue is requiring capture plate for the mor/ryde pin box. Not an issue for me, but dealer had to remove it when the Cardinal went back to the factory. I too bought the lifting eye. I only remove the hitch in the fall when finished camping for the year. I bought a cheap chain hoist from harbor freight that I use to lift it out.
Dave, how does that capture place affect hooking up? I read where the hookup process has a bit tighter tolerances and you have be perfectly straight on when running a plate for the MorRyde, 5th Airborne, Trail Air, etc.

My experience is that you don't have to be straight on. Book says up to 15 degrees I believe. The demco doesn't require capture plate for standard pinboxes, as it has the guides that capture those built-in to the hitch head. Same limitation though for hitching unhitching.
With a unit that's 42' and change, I don't find myself getting into too many sites that require near jack knifing to get in/out anyway. It usually just means one additional out and back in to be relatively straight.
Got it. Makes sense. I toss around the idea from time to time of trying one but I do take my hitch out from time to time and not sure I want to play the winch game. I have a Warn Battery operated winch that would easily lift the hitch but it's just so easy with my standard Curt Q25 to separate the two pieces and pull it out by hand. I'm not ruling it out for the future though. I did see a neat video of the MorRyde pinbox / Demco Autoslide on youtube if anyone is interested...
What Rodney said. Also a nit, but the setup in the video is technically incorrect. When you use a capture plate for the mor/ryde pinbox, those hitch brackets are not needed and can be removed. Doesn't hurt to leave them on, and may help as a visual queue for alignment however.
