Day One Observations
King Ranch Ultimate F350 CCLB SRW
6.2 Gas w/4.30 Gears
4x4/FX4
Camera System
1. I am coming from a 2003 Ram 2500 CCLB, so I am used to a big truck. I knew going in that this truck would be bigger, and was surprised that is doesn't seem bigger. I was actually surprised when I checked the specs that it is only about 16 inches longer.
2. Keyless entry/start is awesome, although I did have user error issues with locking the doors one time. I was grabbing the handle when trying to lock the truck and locking/unlocking at the same time. Locked it with the touchpad and key fob successfully. Was going to come home and check on here as I remembered seeing this issue before, but couldn't remember the resolution, but I figured it out at the next stop.
3. While I was playing with the lock issue, I may have caused it, but when we came out of a store, my tailgate was open. I wouldn't have thought anything of it if I hadn't read several times on here of it happening to others. However, at this point, I am assuming it was caused by me.
4. I am very happy with the power and gearing. Don't regret going gas one bit, and am very happy with the gears. Never felt like my RPM's were too high and I needed one more gear. I felt like it was deceptively fast. There were several times when I felt like I was going 30 when I would glance down and realize I was doing 50+.
5. Love the ride/handling characteristics. I grew up in trucks and am a "truck guy". Bought my wife a Ram 1500 in 2013, and never liked the way it rode, all the reviews talked about the coil spring suspension and how well they rode, but it always felt too light in the rear for me. Just figured it was the light suspension until my friend bought a Powerwagon, and I feel the same way in it. I just prefer the planted feeling of the larger truck, and am very happy with the ride.
6. My door sticker shows 3987 lbs or payload.
7. I installed my Retrax Pro MX shortly after picking it up. The basic install went easy, but I am having some sort of alignment issues. Once I closed it the whole way, I cannot open it. When I try to push it open, the first slat lifts up on the passenger side and contacts the front plate. As soon as I made this discovery, the sky opened up and I didn't get the change to investigate further. Hopefully I will have time to look at it tomorrow.
8. After getting the truck home, I had to jump in the 2003 Dodge to do some "Truck things". I kept the old truck for this exact reason as I don't want to beat the new one up just yet. As I drove the Dodge, I just felt more comfortable than in the Ford. I have had it for over 14 years... The seat is shaped like my ***.... I know where all the switches and ***** are without looking, etc. I understand that this will come with time in the new truck.
9. While driving the Dodge, with it's hemi and 5sp manual transmission, I couldn't help but think how awesome the new truck would be with a manual tranny. I understand all the reasons that they have gone away from them, but they are so much more fun to drive...

10. Went for another ride after dark, just to see if the LED headlights are all they are cracked up to be, and they are. Wife laughed at me when I stopped at a closed business on the way home just so I could pull up to the window and look at the reflection of the lights in the windows as I cycled through hi/low beams and fogs on/off.
That is all that I have through one day and 84 miles...
I would like to thank everyone on this forum for all the info that you have provided as I did all my research and decided what configuration I wanted.
Overall I am happy with the 6.2 w/ 4.30 combo. This site has been awesome for recommendations and advice.

congrats!
10. I agree the LED lighting is amazingly good - well worth the $ IMO. I added a 13" light bar at the license plate slot (to complement the lighting and fill the slot)....pictures HERE - even the REAR LED lighting is impressive (I havent fully justified the need for more rear lighting, YET).
6. 3122 lbs (1st time I've looked at it really)...I suspect my lower number is due in part to the 6.7 motor.
5. My configuration (6.7L, F350, FX4, Platinum, Ultimate Tow, CCLB, SRW, 3.55's) did not have the (coat hanger thin) factory rear sway bar - I Added the Hellwig #7320 - BIG WIG - 1 & 5/16" adjustable rear sway bar - really keeps the truck planted in the turns.
3. While its not likely - there is a (door mounted) keypad sequence that will open the rear tailgate - after entering your code, which opens only the drivers door - touching the 1/2 & 3/4 buttons open all the other doors, and you can also open the tailgate by touching the 5/6 & 7/8 buttons - locking the doors via the door mounted key pad can be performed by touching the 7/8 & 9/0 buttons.
enjoy the truck.
