Some questions about my new f250 (V10)
Hi Newbie here, to forum and first time owner of a super duty (2000 XLT V10). I have a list of new car stuff here I am hoping some experienced guys can chime in.
1. Brakes: Parking brake light does not come on when the parking brake is depressed, not a major problem but I have already ridden around with the brake on twice. When the truck ignition is on-no light. When the truck is started, brake light comes on for 1 second. Also, the black tubing (not brake fluid line, the other one) that goes to each front wheel is brittle and is completely gone on one side. What function are these and do they relate to parking brake?
2. A/C is not the coldest when temps are about 100 or more, need to run on full blast always to keep cabin cool, even after truck sits in shade/or runs for a while. The low pressure is good. The aluminum lines coming out of the compressor/clutch are very cold. I cannot tell if the compressor/clutch is cycling on and off. On my old GMC and on both my other cars I can hear when the unit cycles on and off. Should this be obvious or is there a test I can do?
3. No dome light connected to door switches? Would have thought this would be standard in a model year 2000 XLT. Anybody added one?
4. Cruise control: again no indicator light, and resume doesn’t work. Could this be a fuse/sensor? Not a must have but do use it on my other vehicles so if there is something easy to check...
Thanks in advance, pretty stoked to finally own a Super Duty-
Ryan
