Engine and Transmission options
Hello, I'm new to the forum so I'm hoping there is someone who can help me out. I've just gotten a 1959 F100 that I will be restoring. Not going back to factory original but wanted to keep some of the nostalgia. I'm going to put in a Ford 302 and am currently trying to figure out what transmission to pair with it. I'd prefer to keep the 3 speed column shifter if possible. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well the truck has a 292 that is siezed so the plan is to put in a crate 302. There wasn't a transmission there when we bought it so that's going to be new regardless. I want to keep it manual just for fun sake. Thanks for the help.

My 59 was a 223/3spd that was converted to a 302/C4, retaining the 3spd column shifter to control the C4.
I wouldn't recommend that combo because there are no shift detects except the transmission valve body, and no neutral safeties.
