Eletrical short and under hood light

OK I have a short and fuse 8 blows. I have removed dome lights instrument cluster, light switch, buzzer was removed long time ago, I have checked the glovbox light and switch and I keep blowing fuses. I am looking for the under hood light but i cant find it. is there one and where would the switch and or light be? where is the wire to feed this light I cant find?

Its sorta in the center and to the right a little. Wire is probably hiding behind the hood insulation if its been taken off.

It's actually on the LEFT side under the hood; IIRC the wire runs up along side the driver's side hinge, and there's a disconnect just before the hinge. Personally, I would recommend removing the light and taking it to your local hazardous material ("clean sweep") facility. The switch is a little blob of mercury inside a bulb; when the hood angles up, the mercury flows to where it closes the contacts to close the circuit.

I cant find it.. it must have been removed. I wish i knew where it plugged into the harness. I need to be sure it is not shorting out. I have been cutting wires and blowing fuses trying to locate the short. My harness is unraveled all over and my truck looks like a bomb went off. WTF!!!!!!! oh im so tired of this. thanks. If someone has a photo of where the harness would connect to the hood harness that i dont have now that would be great.

Well I figure it just did not come with one. or everything was removed. I cant find a plug that is open to connect one either. There is an open grommet in the firewall but cant find a wire. I have been removing and cutting wires to try and figure out where the short is. All I know right now its not at any of the easy items to get at. behind the dash .....

DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

Fuse Junction Panel
Each vehicle has a fuse panel that contains most of the fuses used in the electrical system.

Location

The fuse panels for F-150, F-250, F-350, F-Super Duty Chassis and Bronco are located on the instrument panel behind an access door, left of the steering column. The location of the fuse panel for the Motorhome Stripped Chassis is up to the body builder. The fuse panel for these models is usually located under the instrument panel near the steering column.

This is from my manual. Have you checked the cargo light connection by the 3rd brake light? I can't seem to get the pics of the fuse panel to copy.

I'm confused on fuse 8 and 18. My spedo will not turn on the Odometer is not on. Fuse 8 is blown. What does 18 do for the spedo?

Well I found the short. I also fried more wires in the process. My truck looks like hell now and it is torn apart. I had it put together with the bad section disconnected and my spedo did not come back on. could it be fried? I don't see how. Well I have new harness on order and new wire loom wrap.. In the process i did find about 3 more areas with exposed wires from cracking. at the door. Well at least I don't have to pay a shop. unless in the end i broke more than they would have by just knowing how to find it easier.
