I used ATF+4 fluid in my Excursion. Firmed up the shifts and since Chrysler had issues early on with the 604 OD FWD and clutch chatter, its definitely made to help with TC lockup...50K no issues.
Rebuilt transmissions for 7 years...u could technically use an original TYPE F and simply add friction modifier.
FYI...it was crazy at the time...all 604s would have TC lockup chatter that were paired with the V6...all the 4cylinders never chattered.
It was when we were just seeing them so this stuff was pretty new with the new ODs.
We just added friction modifier to universal ATF (dexron, type F, etc.)
There is nothing special with older vehicles and the typical setups
