I'm driving a 2006 F150 with 5.4L. I have records on every tank since 2007. Mostly 12-14 mpg mixed driving. I just calculated 16.7 on my fill up this AM. (I've been driving like an extreme paw paw just to see what I can get and had a lot of highway miles on the tank at 60mph or less).

What I'm figuring is I can do just as well with F250 6.2L with 4.3 gearing and have a lot more towing/hauling potential at the same price as an F150 replacement. Granted a newer F150 5.0L would have a little better efficiency than my 2006 5.4L (or the F250 6.2) but it would still be towing/hauling limited. You can get a heavy payload package but it doesn't get you that far.

My conclusion has been that the F250 6.2L gives you the most for the $$. The only thing you loose with F250 is the sportier ride of a smaller, lighter less capable F150...... IMO

However, actual dealer pricing for a 3.5 EB or 5.0 Lariat F150 was about the same, or in some cases more, than a 6.2 F250 Lariat. The #1 reason I went with a F250 was that is was basically the same price and you get so much more truck capability for the money.
This is exactly what I found, to get a F150 lariat equipped as my SD is was going to cost more on top of the fact that I would have had to order the truck as most people don't want long bed trucks.
