The air suspension on my 1997 Expy Eddie Bauer model needs work, the right rear is sagging. The compressor works and the air bag fills but the air leaks out after a few hours. I guess the air bag needs to be replaced. Would I be better off to just convert to conventional suspension? Anybody know the cost comparison of fixing versus converting? The Expy has 230K miles, with a rebuilt engine at 190K. I'm thinking that the air suspension is more trouble than it is worth, even though I do pull trailers pretty regularly.
I've looked at their web site; looks like they support rear air for my 97 model but they do not support front air. This makes me think that if the front units go out I might have trouble getting parts
Anything is possible to go wrong on a 20 year old vehicle. The rear air suspension pieces seem to be the most problematic in my research. Replace the rear air spring/shocks and call it good.
If something goes wrong with the fronts, replace them with a coil conversion. That way you can keep the rear air springs.
Good find! RockAuto is a site sponsor too. They usually have discount codes listed in the Vendor section. At the price they have listed I would be tempted to replace them as a preventative measure.

Since they are also the shock that part can fail before the air part. I replaced mine even though the air bag part was still good. I replaced the rear bags a year later because the rubber degraded and would not hold air anymore. So for about $350 I feel I have many more years of service on the suspension.
