I'm working on my '88 Ranger. All four of the rear leaf spring hangers are rusted out as well as the shackles, so I've ordered new Dorman replacements. The bolts in the spring eyes are hopelessly seized so I'm going to have to smoke the bushings out and replace them as well. I was going to order the Energy Suspension poly bushing kit because they're much easier to install and perform better, but there's two different kits depending on if I have common frame or molded in shackle bushings. My rear spring eyes have the metal shell around the rubber bushing, but the shackle bushings are molded in. The more I research the more confused I am. The kits look different, it appears the bushings for the rear spring eyes are smaller in diameter and have more of a shoulder in the molded kit versus the common frame type.
So exactly which bushing are they talking about: the rear bushing in the spring itself, or the bushing in the shackle? I'm finding conflicting information. This guy says its the one in the spring eye:
