Just by luck, I was doing a Google search for a Pyrometer that was quick and easy to install. Well I really like what I got and the price is very good in my opinion:
EGT Digital PMD1XT Pyrometer Gauge + Probe Kit - Diesel Race Series DF - $125.50 from The Sensor Connection
I bought the optional enclosure kit, but I'll let it be for now. It has a programable Alarm that I can't change right now due to my not taking the time to understand the procedure. Anyways this was easy as pie, less than one hour total including tapping the manifold. I got the 6' thermocouple.
That's an Auber Digital gauge. Awesome product, comes in red, blue, amber, or green. Programmable set point alarm, and the probe, even capable of a sound if you hook it to a speaker.
EBay carries them also, a little cheaper.
Chet, set the high point to 1200°, so when it goes off , you let up!
Yes thanks I will set the alarm as soon as I can get into the Alarm program menu. It kicks back out when I go menu 1. Drilling and tapping the manifold was easy. Having a super strong Neo magnet attached to the tap helps pull the shavings out. I also put the magnet on a screwdriver to get every last bit of metal out.
I got mine on ebay in green years ago. Haven't had any issues with it at all. Alarm is @ 1250. I used a mini piezo speaker from RadioShack for the audible. Mounted mine up here.
