5.8 EEC-IV catch code- ???

5.8 EEC-IV catch code- ???
As I am a newbie here (lurking for a long time but no posting), I'm not real sure if this should be in here or in Fuel Injection...Oh, well here it goes.
First, I'm trying to determine if the catch code on my '88 5.8L is for an auto or a manual. The catch code is 8QJ. I can't find it referenced anywhere. Can some one help?
Secondly, the reason I need to know the above info is that I need to apply either a ground or 12V signal to pin 30 in order to clear code 67 and read KOER codes. Assuming the computer is confirmed as an auto, can I simply splice pin 30 wire into the red-lt blue wire on my neutral park switch?
