D60 install
The shackle reversal (front half) came from Sky-manufacturing and is made from beefy components, but lacked any instructions and was a PITA to figure out installation. They also shorted me several bolts I had to run out and get. The rear shackle flip is just a set of front hangers I bought at the ford dealership for $65, drilled some holes in the frame and bolted em in. That netted me 9" of flip, for almost 5" of lift at the axle. I took the factory block and relocated it to the top of the spring pack and that made things perfect. The only thing left to do is get a steering stabilizer (for sure!!) and maybe shorten the front driveshaft.
This was a pretty a much bolt in swap?
My son has a 97 F-250, Powerstroke, 4x4 with the TTB front axle. Not real fond of the saggy looking front end on a kick butt truck.
We have been thinking about this very swap. I looked at a friends 87, F350, 4x4 and it looks like a direct bolt in. Is this right?
Is it just the complete axle assembly and that strut rod and bracket that mounts to the underside of the engine cradle, and pitman arm?
Or is there more to it than this?
And by the way were those Tri-Y headers a good investment on your 460? I assume they are Thorley's?
Thanks,

The D60 is a bolt in swap. I was going to run the track bar as well, but no need, there is no body shift. I was also going to run the sway bar, but again, no need. The RS9000x's I put in may have something to do with this. IF you do do this, you will need the axle, and the driveshaft from the F350. The u-bolts, shocks, mounts and everything else are interchangeable. I would recommend some kind of lift at the same time, both cuz it looks cool, and because there maybe some clearance issues with the engine cross member. I don't think there will be, but I have read that some people had to grind some material off. Check out the tech section for a good article on the D60 swap for our trucks.
For the rear, if you look at your rear leaf springs, the frame mounted shackle closest to the cab is pointed downward (spring mounts under it), just buy 2 of those from the Ford dealership. Grind off the rear shackle that has the spring mounted above it, plumb in the new brackets, drill some holes, and bolt em in. I am going to weld mine on soon too before i put anything heavy in my truck or tow anything. That rear shackle flip (as opposed to the shackle REVERSAL in the front) netted me about 5" of lift for the rear, so I took the factory lift block (with the bumpstop flange on it) and relocated to the top of the axle, in effect lowering the axle 2". This gave me 3" of lift overall for the rear.
