Is this just to protect against vandalism? Surely nobody would steal DEF....

I think mostly to make you think twice about where you are pumping DEF.

I find the locking diesel cap to be the best method to make you stop and think. That, and I don't buy def at the pump.

Maybe not steal any, but could you add something to the DEF fluid to cause damage to the engine?

I'm thinking on the line of someone contaminating the system.
I leave my truck unattended in areas for lengthy periods of time.

Amazon keeps sending me adds on locking DEF caps, but I haven't researched them yet to see if they will fit the SD....
