Need info 1994 F700 dump truck

I just picked up a 1994 Ford F700 dump truck, diesel with auto transmission and air brakes and I have some questions. How do I figure out which engine I have? What are the Identifying characteristics that differentiate the motor? Were different auto transmissions offered? Truck was formerly owned by a municipality that used it for brush collections and moving salt, but never plowed. It's rusty and will need a new box soon and a new cab later but it's only got 33,000 miles on it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Welcome to FTE.

The VIN will have an engine code. Your warranty plate, either riveted or an adhesive sticker, will be on the drivers door showing axle and trans codes along with other info. If you post that info or a picture of the plate, you may get a full decode.

Is it an in-line six?

It is an inline 6 so my guess would be a 5.9 Cummins but would be nice to know for sure for ease of parts/ maintenance. Thanks for helping!

A 5.9 Cummins is going to have "Cummins" on it in several places.

Ford had a Brazilian diesel as well, 6.6L. See post 7 for pics:

It was my understanding that by 1994 there were no more Brazilian motors in these trucks. Maybe I'm mistaken

I was wondering about that just after I posted. I think you are correct as I found another post here saying they ended in '92, giving way to the Cummins. Anyway, the pics you posted may result in a full decode. This sometimes takes a little time as only a couple folks have the full decoder ring set.

Please stand by....

Yes, running the VIN it appears to a Cummins engine. It looks like a 5.9 Cummins.

Thanks for the link. Any chance someone here knows what I can look at on the block itself to verify? Also how do I figure which transmission and rear end I have?
