Thumbs up For guys using an AOD

Hey guys, I just saw these 2 videos by monster transmission. They seem to be very detailed with setting up an AOD with a carburetor.

I don't like that they say to adjust the cable for the shift points of the transmission. Those adjustments are to be set in the valve body and governor. The cable is supposed to be set to a certain pressure and then its done.

Are you having trouble with the AOD kickdown? are you using the Lokar kickdown cable? I can help you out or at least try.

Exactly, it isn't directly a "kickdown" cable (or linkage, on the older ones). It's a control signal. Dire consequences if not correct.

Hey Reed,
Hmmm.. Personally I'd just adjust that cable to get the pressure right. You can do really small adjustments to it but don't go higher than the pressure spec. The Clutch Pack & Governor set the shift points or go with a Solid Throttle Body.

Our experience with Monster wasn't all that great. If you need a warranty I would recommend using a local transmission shop. Monster didn't honor their warranty & were pretty useless. I would look at Baumann Engineering & Silver Fox for guidance on AOD's.

I totally ment to put something about that in my first post, I agree. Everything looked good up untill he started talking about adjusting shift points. Here is a link to Lokars instructions on the setup including the line pressure you need.
