Sea Foam

I have a pinging problem with our 95 OHV. I've read in previous posts that sea foam will work to remove carbon build up thus reducing pinging. Where would be the best place to spray? This wont harm any sensors? Any thing else to check? The pinging is quite bad with some foot on the gas, especially when its hot outside.

Thanks!

I think you are to spray it into the intake via a vacuum hose or something. Good luck,

The instructions are on the can. I pulled the brake booster vacuum line and let it suck half the can in. You kill the engine as soon as the can emptys and wait a while for the cleaner to work. The other half either goes directly into the TB or gas tank.

I used Sea Foam (the type you put in your crankcase) and it worked well, too well! You are supposed to put it in and drive your truck for a certain amount of miles then change your oil. I followed the directions to the letter but the Sea Foam cut the carbon from the top of the engine (86 Bronco, 139,000 miles, regular oil changes) and plugged the oil pump. Of course all this happened on the interstate going about 75 mph. When I pulled the oilpan there was about 4-5 inches of sludge in the pan and around the pump. I spun several bearings and ended up replacing the engine! I contacted Sea Foam but they said their product could not do that kind of damage and that I must have had used something else in my engine to do it harm. So my .02 worth is it will clean your engine but keep a close eye on it!

Sea foam is a multi purpose spray lubricant commonly used to remove carbon deposites in the cumbustion chambers of 2 stroke outboards, and also works well for autos. Seafoam also makes fuel and oil additives.

I wouldn't put ANY additive in my crankcase............If ya change your oil/filter when your supposed to and do all the req. maint. you don't need it...........In the old day's people would add about 1/3 qt of kerosene into the crankcase.....start it up and run for a min. or two then drain...............Im sure it was responsable for many spun rod bearings etc...... When I go to pepboys etc... and filters are on sale I'll pick a few up and sometimes I'll spin a new one on in-between oil changes.......it's cheap and easy and it has to help................
