Left my truck in the parking lot of a Sleep In today and I came back tonight and someone had pried the plastic trim piece around the handle out, and basically destroyed the lock cylinder and it just hangs out of the door. It's dark now so I can't really see all the damage that's been done but at the very least the body color surround is all scratched up as is the lock cylinder and probably the handle too. They took all my owners booklets, console insert and several other things I'm sure. What all am I in for to fix and why are these so easy to break into?? Is there a solution to this besides trading for something less difficult to get in?
I can't even lock the driver's door. If I open it the alarm goes off but only sounds for a little bit then just flashes. I believe as time goes on it will only get worse. This is too easy.
Sorry to hear about this. On the other hand, I backed my tractor off a trailer attached to my locked truck and the movement caused the alarm to go off.
I have heard of people putting rear door handles on their front doors. These have no key cylinders so maybe they can't be jimmied open. I plan to look more into that as well.
My 2008 had a titan aftermarket alarm and starter with two way remotes. It worked very well also saved me a few times. This is why I want ford pass notifications.
Alarm goes off. Remote beeps and vibrates like mad. Honks double honks when alarm was triggered when unlocking. The remotes range was stellar.
A side note if the ford alarm was triggered and you unlock the truck with the door handle keyless entery. There is no honk to let you know the alarm went off. You have to use the key fob to unlock to get a notification.
I got the remote start and advanced security modules on eBay for $225. I can remote start from my phone and I get a text and an email if the alarm goes off, it even tells you what sensor set off the alarm.
I looked at this product after reading another thread about tailgate theft. The problem I see is that the if the thief isn't reading the sticker placed on the window, this product only stops them from getting into the vehicle, not damaging the crap out of your truck. It might even cause them to get pissed off and cause MORE damage in frustration... tear up the door and then break your window...
