It might even cause them to get pissed off and cause MORE damage in frustration... tear up the door and then break your window...
agreed, completely!

I had 'em on my 2004 after 2 break ins - I've also disabled the key/tumbler.
I don't leave ANYTHING in my truck any more...and I keep the back seats UP (don't have kids at home) so they can see theres nothing in the truck.

Dude, everything is easy to break into. Physically breaking in to a vehicle is very simple and there's really no deterrent to smash and grabs. Anyone with 15 minutes to watch YouTube can get into a car in two minutes with a Steck Easy Wedge and a metal rod and not leave a single mark. IMO get a Viper alarm and/or a Ravelco to increase the chances of the truck still being there when you get back.

At a gym that I go to, if they see anything of value they just smash the window and don't care about any alarm. They're gone in less than a minute. They will also sit in the parking lot and see if any women put something like a purse in their trunk. Smash the window, hit the trunk release and they're gone.

I'm trying to wrap my head around why they wanted my owners booklets? is there something special about them that I'm missing?

I think the Idiots just want to take anything. They go to the time to break in, see nothing of real value and say...well, as long as I'm here...

One of my next purchases will be an aftermarket alarm with perimeter sensors, live fob updates and a loud siren.

Everyone knows that if a thief wants it they will take it, but it's going to be a loud ordeal to get my truck.

You would think Ford would put more R&D into the security of these trucks.
In fairness, this is the best Ford alarm they have ever made, and on par with some of the big dollar German cars.

I posted in another post here awhile back about a San Antonio break in. On his...they used channel locks to "twist" the cylinder with the handle pulled out. If you look at the two pics above...that's exactly what they did. They are pulling the handle out...putting channel lock on the cylinder and twisting it to open the door. The alarm does not go off because it thinks the spare little key hidden in the key FOB has opened the door via the key hole. I'm surprised in picture one that the even caused damage to the plastic. Here's a pic again of my friends. Also...YES....everyone on here should do the back handle to front handle switch which eliminates the cylinder and key hole. It's called shaving the door...or door handle to No Key Entry. Only FOD and manual key pad on pillar will open for you.

Same thing happened to my 2015 F-150 in my driveway.

They punched the lock but couldn't make entry so they tried to pry the whole plate around the handle. They ended up ripping a hole down the side of my driver door, but still couldn't get in.

The dealer said the aluminum door couldn't be repaired so I got an entire new door.

I wanted to replaced the keyed handle with a passenger side handle so that it still has the lock and unlock sensors but no key hole. Insurance wouldn't cover this, only OEM driver door handle.

I guess the only issue here would be, you would be locked out of the truck if you're battery happened to die...

Yes that's where mine was. Not sure how to get another and how to have the factory one changed. I did manage to take it apart and get everything working temporarily until I can get a new handle trim piece. This is the dumbest design I've ever seen. Just asking for it. I put my handle back in and left the rod that goes to the lock cylinder disconnected so if someone does it again it won't open that way. Here are some pics.

This is the exact reason, my old boss had the same exact problem with his then 2004 F350. They broke into his truck in a parking lot and the only thing they stole was his owner's manual which had the door code inside of it, at the time of the incident he did not think about the door code being in there nor did he think about the fact that the original door code printed inside the manual cannot be changed whatsoever it will always be an accessible code of the truck even if you change to a new code. So two months later the thieves who broke into his truck must have also wrote down his address that they saw on his registration and insurance that was in the truck they somehow got keys made came one day while he was at work and stole it in broad daylight within a matter of minutes. This is no joke whatsoever and I can almost guarantee the reason they have stole the manual is because they want the door code so they can sometime down the road have a key made in steel the entire truck. Please be very much on the lookout and very vigilant
