I have a 1995 f350 p/stroke diesel To-day temp 80 degrees turn ign. key onto start truck & the wait to start light just lit up for a 1/2 second & the truck will not start. Batterys are 3 months old [both of them] turns over like crazy oil is up in both the engine & the hpop reservoir. all the gages work on the dash except for the wait to start light. It normally stays lite for a much longer time. Does the diode in the power distribution have ant thing to do with the wait to start lite. I,ve ordered one , I did,nt have a spare. I don,t know what the diode does. I ordered this truck in !994 Nov. I got it in April 1995. It,s a 4x4 auto ,single rear wheels, 8 ft box 2 doors. Love the old girl It was my retirement present. Id like to know what keeps the light on longer then maybe I can figure out why it won,t start. Sorry for the long story but I need help Thankyou folks for any help. Friskyjake
Does it come on now if not your fuel bowl heater may have shorted out and blown ur pcm fuse under the hood if so just unplug it and replace fuse and you'll be good to go
Thanks for reply's. Yes the light comes on momentarily every time I turn on the ignition switch. I have check engine light up on the dash also. I.ll pull the chip from the computer this AM also & then see what happens. The fuel heater has been disconnected for years. Yesterday I was checking some wiring circuits & had the ignition key on for quite some time. So I ,m wondering if I shorted out or overheated some relay or whatever. Thanks. Friskyjake
OK pulled chip truck started & engine runs. Put chip back in & set it to stock. Engine starts & runs. Went up in the settings & kept running till I got to #5 engine shuts down. Moved the setting to # 6 engine starts & runs all the way up thru my other settings. Only will not start or run on # 5. I contact my chip person. Thanks again. Is been a learning experience. Pardon the ignorance, what chip are y'all referring?
They're referring to an aftermarket chip that is plugged into the truck's PCM behind the parking brake pedal bracket. With aftermarket chips, sometimes they can get loose or corrupted which can prevent the truck from starting.
