So I was cleaning out my little shed so I could store some boat parts, and I found an old school big deflector (big and flat) inside it in great condition. I held it up to my truck, and like the looks of it, plus it hides the rust on my hood well.
Anyone have a pic of how this type of bug deflector install on our trucks? It has a series of angled metal pieces attached, but it looks like they are upside down. Also, what type of hardware attaches the deflector to the hood?
The little angled bits are the holders- They usually came with two sizes, about 4 or 5 of each... They should have a basic "L" shape, but with a dip at one end, and a slot along the long side. The dip goes downwards- this is so it will go over the lip of the hood. The flat with the slot goes along the underside of the front of the hood: and the short vertical tab points upwards, and the deflector attaches to that. You put it together, then bring it up to the bottom of the hood, mark & drill the screw holes, and just add the screws. (If you don't have them, ISTR they are a #8 or #10 sheet metal screw)
