Steering stabilizer/damper.......

What do you guys recommend for a steering stabilizer/damper for my 1997 cc lb? Do I need one? Will adding one make a noticeable difference? My truck has 33" tires on it.

I have 35s and don't have one. it can help when you hit pot holes that force the truck in that direction.

do you have issues with bumps?

I have only driven the truck about 10-12 times since we bought it in October. On a uneven back road it does have a tendency to follow/travel with a dip or low spot in the road. I have been reading about the redhead steering boxes too and we are considering ordering one of those too.

Knottyrope I see you also have a stock bumper with your big tires....did you put shims in your bumper so your tires don't rub when you turn? We just put my front bumper on last night and had to put a ton of washers so my tires don't rub. Just wondered what a better alternative there is?

front bumper is cut so it wont rub, PO did it and not sure if any spacers are in there

I am thinking of a redhead, sloppy steering isn't fun on a long trip

bumpy roads make mine all over as well and I have all new tie rods

might try to turn the steering box adjustment a lil this weekend after replacing my radiator

My 88 Toyota 4x4 no power steering with larger tires on it, it was horrid when I hit a bump and the steering wheel could move a 1/4 turn. The stabilizer did make a huge difference on it.

Mine had one on it when I bought it. IDK of a really good shock though.
