Can some one explain to me why some window stickers are green while others are blue? I thought it was because all gas models were green and diesel were blue but that not correct. I've seen blue stickers on gas trucks.
Okay, I can see that being the case, but I've also seen green stickers on dealer lots. That is not to say that they were not special orders that some one didn't take delivery once it arrived.
When I was shopping there were a number of special order window stickers(green) sometimes they are for trucks that the deal or financing did not got through. Mine was dealer stock but loaded to the gills like a special order.

Crazy. Sounds like that dealer had a lot of special orders backing out. Seems like a lucky buyer will get a good deal if it has the combination of options they want since the dealer will probably be more motivated to sell those trucks.

Blue is a dealer ordering a truck to be delivered and sold from their lot.
Green is a special order, meaning a customer went in (or ordered online) and got a specific build built for them.
Reason you see a green sticker on a lot means someone special ordered a vehicle/truck and then for whatever reason backed out of the order and now it sits on the dealer lot to be sold to any customer.
During the height of the supply crunch, a lot of Ford dealers would try to avoid signing the special order sheet by offering them remote ordering over the phone and have customer sending the order sheet via email, promising that the price is the final price, and then when the truck arrives, slap on an additional 5k, 10k, or even more on there and play dumb when customer ask why the verbal agreement with the customer signature (but not the dealer rep signature) was not being honored, and some green stickered vehicles ended up dealer lots when customers didn't have a signed order sheet, with a massive mark up. Farley made some BS PR soundbite about "hey guys no more mark ups" but no one cared and then Ford sharply raised MSRP across the board.
This happened with SDs, Broncos, Mavericks, Rangers, F150s, whathaveryou. I almost got screwed by that tactic but by sheer chance I emailed the sales guy asking about a midyear price increase with the number, and they had to accept it at the end. I am sure without the email trail it would have been their way or the highway.
The shady Ford dealers around me are one of the main reasons why the next year I got two new Toyota SUVs instead of any Ford offerings.
