Ignition Module ...still beating the heat.

.
Its been about a year, and enough heat waves have gone by for me to safely post this:
I used to play around with computer desktop power supplies. Last summer it hit me.
...those PSU cooling cases will nicely accommodate an ignition control module.

It didn't take much to remove and replace the circuit board with my module.
It's been running this way without a hitch ever since, dissipating the heat,
exhausting the hot air, and displacing it with cooler ambient air.

Considering they're all made in China, those brushless fans rarely fail
and seem to last forever drawing only milliamps at 12 DC volts.

...bought a whole lot of peace of mind for less than $20 bucks.
.

Ooh, I like it!

Does the module sit on the bottom of the box? If you put spacers underneath and used longer mounting bolts, could you get airflow on all sides of the module? Would that help much with the cooling?

Have you thought about a duct to bring in exterior air for cooling? I've toyed around with the idea of something like the duct to the air cleaner on the passenger side.

You ripped the idea out of my head before i could post
If that were Gary, he would have dual snorkel intakes pushed by fans inside the duct-work with intermittent relays ( balance power draw), operating off of solar assisted power panels feeding through the air conditioning system.

No, Gary would run the passenger's side cold air 'tween the radiator support and the snorkel through the box, so the "fan" would be a positive-displacement one of 460 cubic inches.

That is neat! I like the picture of it sitting on the wheel well of a 1985!

Its raised about 1/4" sitting on the same 'feet' that the circuit board was on.

The "Heavy Duty" blue grommet module was also made in China, Taiwan or another Asian country, where life is cheap and the workers salaries might be a buck a day.

Genuine Ford would be marked MOTORCRAFT and may also have ID engineering numbers marked on it.

Why not just mount it inside the AC duct work - then run the AC on Max whenever you are out driving hard.

But, you couldn't "drive hard" in the winter?
