04 with 170k miles. truck runs fine. every now and then truck shuts off while driving. turn it off the it restarts everytime. only code that comes up is number 6 injector. the contribution test injector is firing right. ficm voltage is 47.5. has new ipr and hpop also 6k miles ago. could it be number 6 shorts out or something crazy killing truck? or maybe a crank sensor. im kinda stumped right now
Have you looked for wiring harness chafing? Especially on the FICM harness to the injectors?
Wire chafing locations due to having an injector code:
Upper left (driver's side) valve cover or valve cover stud near the FICM
Left front valve cover hold down bolts/studs
Also, other common locations:
Exhaust Back Pressure (EBP) sensor bracket at thermostat housing
Idler pulley under the thermostat (wiring routed around the power steering pump)
Right valve cover at glow plug control module (GPCM)
CKP wiring near A/C compressor and belt tensioner
Front left of intake manifold near breather tube and air inlet duct
Inspect terminals for "backed-out" or bent pins (FICM, sensors, etc)
Accelerator Pedal pivot point (under dash)
PCM harness at battery box
12A581 harness circuit 1044 (WH/YE) near connector C1443 (left rear corner of engine compartment)
i will check the harness. owner had head studs and cooler fixed. so the shop may have wires pinched somewhere. ill check it out. thanks for input will let you know if i find anything
Do you have adjustable pedals? Had a friend with an '06 and that was what caused his to die for no reason. Dealer repaired it under warranty, and I would expect it to capture a code (loss of throttle signals, etc.). Mark likely has you pointed in the right direction, just thought I'd mention this one...

so i changed injector hsrness. no luck. truck started jerking and losing power. no i get a icp low pressure code along with number 6 injector. watchi g scanner when it loses power duty cycle is 85% so either got oil leak or pump. only thing is shop that did head studs supposedly put new pump on it. 8k miles ago. gonna take icp out and pressurize head and see what happens. then i guess ill take driverside valve cover off and look at number 6 injector. this is crazy issue.
if you were to post exact DTC the info we post will be more specific to help
do you know brand HPOP installed
Since it so recently rebuilt might be worth a check of IPR Screen for trash
not sure on brand or if it even was replaced. alot of dirt around hpop housing for 8k miles. air checked both heads. seems to be good. no air leaks. took ipr out and screen was good. duty cycle is 24 at idle when warm. go down rd and stand on it it goes to 80%. it has hit 85 and start falling on face. im leaning towards hpop is weak. guy said he never had an issuse till shop bullit proffed it. am i missing something before i pull pump out? thanks
ill air test it just for heck of it. sad if shop charged for pump and never installed. will find out.
Even if they did replace it, if it is a Ford reman, there are a number of folks that have had them bad right out of the box, so it's a crap-shoot how long one might last.
See many folks recommend Adrenaline pump but don't use their gaskets for install, use OEM...

i know they charged 934$ for the pump. not counting labor. ill be curious to get cover off and see it.
