air bag warning light showing on the instrument panel. Anyone had this happen, and is there anything else affected? Traveling and won't be able to get to a dealer for a few days

 

It could be one of many things, a couple of the more common are:

1. Something has pulled a wire loose under the drivers or passengers bucket seat
2. One of the front impact sensors has gone bad there are 2 on the front.

Many times the front sensor goes out if water gets under the front plastic seal. These are not hard to change out. If the front sensor is bad you will normally feel a bump under the white and yellow plastic label on the the front of the sensor.

 

Search the forums. There is a guy with same issue and they resolved it after a long time of messing around

 

You can't guess with the RCM. Many connections from airbags to seatbelts to crash sensors. You need the code to proceed. Bring it to a dealer when you get a chance.

 

finally home and got the truck to the dealership. They found a wire had lost connection discovered by checking for resistance in the wiring harness on the passenger side of the dash. Dash was disassembled to fix, which was simple reconnecting the wire, which somehow came loose. The side note to this was the fact the airbags were disabled during this period and would not have functioned. Glad it was fixed.

 

airbag warning light is back on after only a few days, and scheduled to take it back to the dealer for service. Hopefully this time the issue is resolved.
