UPDATE: After the tech discussed it with the Ford hotline, and after testing the truck, I took them the truck and trailer. I have a nice long pigtail so they were able to drive another SD truck along side and plug it in. SAME RESULT! Ford is on the case and they think a software patch will be required. Either the truck is sending out the wrong higher voltage signal than required OR even though the selected mode E/H is made, it is not actually switching modes. I had a new aftermarket brake controller and cable for my 2005 Excursion, they busted open the dash to gain access to the harness and my truck is now using that, until Ford finds the error and makes a patch. My trailer is useable again, that last limp home at 30,000 lb was no fun at all. It was funny, the tech set the gain a bit high and when I tapped the brakes, the trailer stopped the truck!
Good to know, I was thinking of converting my trailer to disk brakes. (elec/hyd) Maybe good to wait a bit.
Also was checking my schedule to see if you needed help. I'm down I-5 300 miles or so south of you. Looks like my truck would do the same thing. 2017 F-450.
you have a nice trailer too.
