4 speed to automatic steering column

4 speed to automatic steering column
Is it possible to rebuild my manual 4 speed steering column to an automatic using the steering tube, shift collar, etc from the appropriate year auto? This is for a Crown Vic front clip/4r70w swap.

I don't know if that will work or not. But it seems to me that by the time you buy those parts and pay freight you'd have as much as buying a used column. And while you're at it you can get a 78/79 tilt column. I bought one off evilbay 4-5 years ago (which I never used and still have) and paid like $150.00. I'd do that and this:
