I've got a 79 and I bought cab lights for the 80-97 body style (I like the style better than the bubbly 70s look). I was wondering if anyone with cab lights could get the measurements from the windshield back to the lights and also from the edge of the cab to the outside lights? Also maybe a top view picture of the lights. I know I could just put them wherever I want but I would like to do the layout as close to factory as I can. Thanks
I'm away from my trucks right now but, the lights on my 86 and 87 are spaced equally apart. Not like some where the center 3 are closer together than the outer 2.
5 lights. find center line, now measure balance from CL to edge (rain gutter) that value, devide by five.
That total, is five equal parts.
Now from center light, take the value (from dividing by 5) and multiply times 2, that value, this is placement of a light.
Now again from that light measure TWO times the value again, this is placement of the last light. if done correctly, you will end up with 1 times the value to the rain gutter.
@ 4" in from the trim and follow the arch of the trim
Thanks. I also just watched a vid too. Also today I stopped by my uncles house. Forgot he still has an old 96 sitting in his yard with cab lights. Don't know how much different the cabs are from a 79 to a 96 but his are 2" from the front of a light to the start of the curve downwards to the windshield and the outer most lights are 6" from the edge of the cab to the center of the light fixture. Then all evenly spaced accordingly
