Fuel Tank switch help

Just got a f-250 1968. Need help on how these work together. Is the switch for the fuel gauge? Do I flip it before starting the truck? Then the Manuel switch located next to the driver side as picture, move to what tank I want? Making sure that both are selected to the same tank?

Also, I noticed this truck has disk brakes up front dual piston. Is this a standard on this truck?

Welcome to FTE and the Bumpside Kingdom.
You have to do both. The switch on the dash switches the dash gauge to whatever tank you want to see how much gas it has. The floor manual lever switches to which ever tank you want the engine to pull gas from.

Disc brakes were optional on the 68 F-250.
I suppose the technology in 68 wasn't advanced enough to have an electrical switch to switch tanks actually control a valve as well.

1967/74 F100/350's with factory installed dual fuel tanks have a manually controlled fuel tank selector valve located on the floor adjacent to the drivers side of the seat.

The switch only changes the dash fuel gauge from one tank to the other.
