Installed Tekonsha P3 on my 2000 F350 I used the recommend pig tail easy hookup when I press brake pedal no voltage at plug but when I move the manual lever I get voltage. I believe the stop light switch activates it. The fuses all check out. I did have a Banks engine brake installed by their people I don't know if makes a difference Thanks for any help.
Last post doesn't make sense to me. Have you looked in the diagnostic menu to see if it's receiving the stoplight signal? What do you have your gain set at? Does the display show the prodigy logo or 0.0 when you're trying to test?
From the help menu the stop lights reads 12 volts, brakes 0.00, controller set a 6.0 and boost at 2. I'm also thinking something wrong in brake light switch.
If it's cycling between 12v and 0v on the menu for stoplight as you press and release the brake, i wouldn't suspect a brake switch problem. I do seem to remember though that you want to make sure the brake pedal isn't pressed when you connect the prodigy to the harness.
Call off the dogs I found out from my friends at RV Forum that the truck has to be moving before the chip activates and voltage is sent to the plug. The directions don't explain that, I was just looking at the trouble shooting window and saw truck voltage, tail light 12 volts and 0 trailer brake volts, amps and became concerned. I'll fine out when I hit road and try to steer, shift and push the controller buttons at the same time.
Don't have to push buttons, once you set it and leave it a few seconds, the display will change to output instead of set point. You'll see it rise as you get on the brakes, and lower to 0 when you let off the brakes...
