" water test "

when you guys get ready to sign the papers or take delivery at the dealership. How many of you request they test the moonroof and windshield for leaks before signing papers?

would this even be an option. I know dealers might think it's a PITA move but... hey... 70k truck

I wouldn't even worry about it. What would you do if it leaked? Ask them to order you another one? What if that one leaked? That's what the warranty is for.

While it sucks to have a problem like that, keep in mind that Ford is selling tens of thousands of these trucks and if a LOT of them were leaking, there would be a lot more noise on this forum. All manufacturers pay attention to warranty claims, so if more than a few customers have a problem, they're researching to find the cause and make a running change.

If that "high seam" around the windshield was causing leaks, I'll bet Ford will have addressed it before your truck is built.

I've (hand) washed mine every week since I've owned it (sometimes TWICE) and we've had some sustaining (HARD) rain here - I've driven in that rain and let the truck sit for 2 days in that rain (sloped driveway)...and i haven't had a DROP off water inside the truck in the 3.5 months I've owned it.

If you're gonna ask the dealership to do a water test why not ask them to test everything? How about having them drive it during the break-in period and fix anything they notice isn't perfect?

Seriously, pick up your truck and enjoy it!

"If" you want to do that, Why don't you ask for verification that there is enough air in the tires, the vehicle will last it's full warrante period without an issue, or, how about you be absolved of any abuse you knowingly cause.

A buyer would naturally want the leak test before they sign the dotted line. I don't think a dealer would go for that nor are they going to set up a special apparatus to perform the test.

After reading on a forum, maybe this one, I took our new truck on a 25 mile test drive to ensure that it was fueled with diesel, not gasoline before we signed the papers. I am willing to deal with any other warranty issues after the truck is mine. Gasoline in a diesel, find out while the truck is still theirs.

In 1985 I purchased a new loaded '85 F-150 XLT. I had looked at the truck on a couple previous visits to the dealership. On the last visit I paid particular attention to the window sticker that stated that the truck had a 302 EFI V8. I raised the hood just to find that the truck actually had a 351W HO engine. This was during the early days of Ford introduction of the fuel injected (throttle body) engines. The salesman insisted that the truck had a 302 EFI V8 as the window sticker had indicated. Only after I had made a deal and the service department during the prep process had made a note that the engine was in fact a 351W HO (4V carburetor) with factory shorty headers, the salesman told me I would have to pay extra for the difference in cost. Needless to say I drove out with the new truck with the dealership having to stand good on the original deal.
