Help with nonworking cruise control
If you put a LED third brake light bulb EN could it cause the cruise control to stop working ? And could you add a resistor in that circuit to fix the problem?

It will also cause your auto converter to randomly unlock. Yeah it can cause issues. I am not sure what resistor you could use. I know on some 4th gen fbodys we would just run a 12v relay on the circuit and the coil added enough resistance to make it work correctly. There's not a great place to put one of those in the 3rd brake like on a truck though.

You can use led but it has to be a high quality SMD LED
SMD LED are for the new Canbus system. They have built in resistors since canbus sends a consistent .05v. With out SMD LED on a newer vehicle the light would constantly stay on

Not to hijack the original thread but does anyone know if adding cruise to a Powerstroke is as easy as swapping on a cruise steering wheel? I am swapping a column from non tilt to tilt and the tilt column came out of a Powerstroke with cruise.....just curious......

if your Cruise control isn't working try checking the speed sensor on the pumpkin of your axel. I went and replaced the speed sensor on mine but it turned out to be the harness of the speed sensor. Also the third brake light was out and caused my transmission to switch in and out of overdrive at high-speed's. I replaced the bulb and the transmission work fine again.

Thanks, I am gone all next week, but I am going to start testing on this problem when I get back.
I sure miss my cruise control.
