Today my new 2003 F250 SD started to have idle problems. When in drive and stopped it idles terrible and acts like it wants to stall. Even in park it idles bad. Sounds like it missing and there is a strong smell of exhaust while this is happening. I stopped at my mechanic before taking it to the dealer. He was not sure what it may be. I did hit a large build up of water in the road pretty hard and it shot water up under the front end and into the engine. Could something just be wet? This only started after the water incident. I only drove the vehicle another 15 miles since and am now at work. Any thoughts may help.....

Idle problem?
I'm curious on the water problem being diagnosed here. I remember reading some threads where guys said they wash their engines by spraying with simple green or soap & taking a hose to them. Everyone swore up & down that if the engine was cool, no problems would result. Should I read this to mean that washing your engine this way is not safe? Or is it because his engine was hot & running when he splashed it?
The check engine light still has not come on. I tried to idle the truck for awhile while here at work. It seems to be getting a little better. I will be driving home 15 miles and then back again 15 miles tomorrow. If this doesnt fix it I guess its off to the dealer. I was told never to directly wash my engine because of all the computer and senser items nowadays. Thanks for the imput...
