Pretty sure the tailgate doesn't open if the button is pressed and the truck is locked. You literally have to unlock the vehicle to get my tailgate to open via FOB or button in cab.

My fob will drop the tailgate with the truck locked. Two presses and magic.

I've seen some say they have (possibly) accidentally activated the switch on the dash....
last night on the way home I TRIED to open the tailgate w/ the dash switch and it would NOT drop the tailgate (while driving) either at speed or sitting at a traffic light (stopped) in gear/drive.

It did it again this morning!!!
Walked passed truck (gate closed) got in, drove 6 blocks to fwy ent. and it was open by the time I had to merge...
Going to see if I can convert to XLT handle... F the electric switch!

Just wondering, is there a fuse you could pull to temporarily disable the electric switch?

Totally incorrect. The gate will open in forward and reverse....only if you hit the unlock door first and you are under 10-15 mph. I do it ALL the time backing my boat and utility trailer down my driveway. As I pull up, I hit unlock on the door and then the tailgate open by your left knee on the panel. Give it a try.

wonder if you guys can reprogram the fob, reason i mention is the wifes fusion takes a double push of the fob to pop the trunk....i know it is not the exact same but was just a thought.....
