Question about remote tailgate release
Is there an option to disable this feature? If you lock the tailgate will it still work?
The reason I ask is I will need a shoe horn to get the new Super Duty in my garage. If I hit the key fob tailgate release by accident with my truck in the garage the tailgate will hit my garage door.

I'm curious if it's locked will it still drop. I'm fairly certain if you're moving it won't operate. I was hoping someone would respond. I'll find out when I get mine. I didn't think to try it at the dealership.

t wont operate while moving, but will open if locked. as soon as you hit the button on the tailgate it unlocks and opens, if you have your fob with you. if the fob is more than 3ft away, I think, it wont unlock.

Also if you hit the release button on the fob twice, it will open of course.

It will open at a distance. I have done it recently.
I am also concerned about opening it on auto at the wrong time but then it's new to me. I was told the tail gate lock is tied to the alarm and forcing it unlocked is same as forcing door open alarm.

There is no physical "lock." It just removes power from the button. Of course, if the key is in your pocket the tailgate will drop locked or not if you hit the button.

Also....if your key is in the house, you can unlock the truck with the external keypad and press the #5 key and the tail gate will drop. Or...once you unlock the truck using the keypad (all four doors) it unlocks the tailgate and you can walk back there and open it. All this without the key being in range. ALSO.....I just tested it. The tailgate will lower using the button on the dash while the truck is in drive and moving forward. It will also lower the same way while moving in reverse. Interesting. Thought that would have been disabled.

Yeah...I was curious so I just went outside and tested...and it does open while the truck is moving both forward and reverse. Now there may be a certain speed where it will not...I'll try and test that
