The fitting pictured here is from my 1937 Harley Davidson UL [gone but not forgotten], return oil pump
It is the only fitting the will screw into my fuel pump in/out and also my vacuum advance??!!
I went to NAPA to purchase these fittings. The man at NAPA looked up, shook my hand, and no was all he said...
Where can I get a couple of these rascals?
If I'm not mistaken, someone told me 35 years ago that this was an obsolete thread pattern [gosh, I hope not]
I'm starting to get a strange vibe about a subtle connection between Dearborn and Milwaukee...
This is to be expected from a generation that grew up playing on their cell phones rather than getting their hands dirty. "If it isn't in the computer, it doesn't exist". I get frustrated when I ask a simple question and get the thousand-mile stare in return.
The good ol boy at the hydraulic supply said it was a number 3 blahblah
Hahahaha. No such thing as a #3. He meant "Dash 3" (-3). What is a hose or tube dash size you ask? Simply put, a dash size refers to a diameter of a hose or tube in 1/16" increments. For example, -6 hose would indicate a hose with inside diameter of 6/16" - or 3/8". In another example, a -10 tube would indicate a tube with an outside diameter of 10/16" - or 5/8". He must be a newbie.

They've been poorly served in their education and the rest of it, have little or no experience with competence or excellence or any of those old fashioned notions. That makes YOU the strange one. LOL!
all I know is that he was the only guy that knew what it was and he went back to the storage area and came out with three brand-new fittings with hose barbs and I left with a smile on my face like
and another thing
I didn't realize that neoprene fuel line is now four dollars a foot!
I got a think three of those dollars are to pay for insurance and legal fees!
