The wandering steering you describe can be achieved from toe out and it is terrifying!

If the thick end of the shim is to the front of the axle then you are increasing the caster, and the inverse is reducing. regards bruce

Thanks for everyone's suggestions and advice. In the end I decided to walk away and continue the search. Here's the truck. Sorry, no pics of the undercarriage.

Don't have any idea. It has a '59 Buick V8 and a beer tap for a shift ****.
