Hey guys, haven't had a chance to dig into it yet. Driving down the road this morning, truck just died. Had it towed home. Just got home. It has spark, both fuel pumps run constant, no start. Fuel pressure regulator? Probably won't be able to mess with until the weekend. Thank God I have 6 trucks, lol. Wife's chemo appointment this afternoon so I've got some time for suggestions. Thanks in advance.
You need to get a fuel pressure tester on there. I've been going through issues with the dual tank setup on my truck. Both of my pumps would run but were not able to supply enough pressure to the fuel rail to make it run right.
If you have a Harbor Freight near you they have a $20 fuel pump test kit, or Autozone will rent you one for $150 deposit. The Autozone one is much nicer and I would recommend it over the HF one.
Do you have any fuel transfer issues? My problem turned out to be bad check valves in my FDMs. Most of my fuel pressure was bleeding out into the opposite tank instead of making it to the fuel rail.
I assume the "both fuel pumps run constant" means the selected pump run constant and not both regardless of which tank is selected?
A constantly running fuel pump when moving the key from Off to Run is typically a failed computer symptom.
Yes. Did manage to get a pressure reading. Approximately 38 psi, from either pump. And yes, selected pump. Hopefully this wknd I'll be able to pull computer and also check pins and sockets in connector to computer. A couple times over the past few weeks it died out of the blue, always restarted. Ran codes, nothing out of ordinary, ie pass. Being intermittent at that time made it difficult to nail anything down. Now that it's constant, I should be able to get it back to being reliable.
