running alcahol????
I was wondering about running alcahol in my 351 w . I put about a cup in to a full tank and the truck runs like a scalded rat. I am thinking about putting more in but would like some input on what I might do to the engine.

Hot stuff...could easily result in burnt pistons. I had someone try to recommend putting a tablespoon of JP4 into the tank once in a while to "clean out the crud". That stuff is worse. Personally I would refrain form doing it at all. It may run really well for a while but the long term effects may be devastating. Kind of like running a 12v light bulb on 24 volts. Its one helluva lot brighter but it will only last about an hour.

It takes about 30% to 50% more alcohol than gas to run an engine properly. Essentially, you have to modify the entire fuel system to make it work. If you can get it to run on straight alcohol without mods, you'll burn up the engine from running lean. Oxygenated fuels with ethanol can only mix in about 15% without introducing problems.
BTW, oxygenated fuels actually cause your mileage to drop because the engine computer doesn't think there's enough fuel getting into the engine.
