plastic clip for door lock

tried to remove the old door lock, where no key is found.

had seen a YT, but the plastic clip bursted into million parts, 40 years old...

Is there a source to get one or better two new ones? what might be the part#?
the manual speak about "the clip"...

I purchased an assortment from Autozone, over the counter. Their website did not show it, however I found some on advanced auto parts: https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...VVtfgodausBFw#

measure the rod diameter to compare.
LMC has: Retainer, door latch rod 40-1362

Hope this helps

Once did a field repair on Dad's Cutlass using a twist-tie in place of the broken plastic part....lasted till the car was totalled 4 years later. Replacement clips are available in most parts stores in the Help section.

Another chain comparable to the two mentioned has the assortment pack as well, had to buy 8 or 10 of all different sizes to get one that was close and it only lasted a couple months on my tailgate. Ordered a couple from Dennis Carpenter that are said to be the proper size.

X2 on most auto parts stores carry it in the "help" section and yes you normally have to buy an assortment pack.

JBG, DC or MACS should carry them.

Part # 21952 in the PDF diagram?

Dennis Carpenter or the "help" section at advance auto parts. Not a big fan of theirs, but their help section is key.

I bought the clips for the tailgate from Bronco Graveyard, and found out they also fit the door lock mechanism.

You may also want to look in yards like Pick N Pull. Most of the car companies used the same clips across the board for both cars and trucks.
